"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea...And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:1, 4)
One of the greatest and most comforting promises in the Word of God...
When God makes all things new, He not only creates a brand new heaven and earth where sin and its curse no longer dwell but He also does away with the former things that caused us so much pain...The sea that separates culture from culture and man from man on the earth will no longer exist...This reminds me of an incurable pain that will never, ever have to be dealt with again by the child of God...separation from loved ones!
When death, sorrow and crying are passed away so will be the longing heartache of this life to reunite with those loved ones who've gone on before... When God does away with the works of Satan, who was the enemy of mankind, he also does away with those things that Satan wrought among the human race.
The Scripture says that Satan came for no other purpose than to kill, steal and destroy (paraphrased John 10:10); all the things that brought death, sorrow and crying. Verse 4 declares the end of all of those temporal, human emotions that brought us so much pain. They have passed away in the sense that they will never, ever again be experienced by a child of God! Won‘t that be wonderful???
