I read Leonard Ravenhill's book entitled "Why Revival Tarries" many years ago and was so very enthralled with his pointed, passionate and pastoral caring for a church that had lost its way...a church that was powerless and dead for all intents and purposes...In fact, I was so captivated by his honesty and genuine love for the lost that I called him on the phone.
He went to be with Jesus several years ago now but was living in Lindale, Texas at the time and to be quite honest I was more than a little intimidated to call this giant of a man of God and one of England's most prolific evangelists. But I did and after we had spoken for a while (the jitters went away in seconds after he spoke) and he had shared his passion for our country and those without Christ I asked him one last question. I asked him why he thought America hadn't really seen revival since the Great Awakening as a result of the preaching of men like Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield. Why don't we see the move of God like we saw at the inception of our country? One that stirred hearts to repentance and motivated men and women to boldly share the Word that would launch a movement of God that would eternally change lives and inspire and motivate men for over a hundred and fifty years!
He said (and I'll never forget this) "He's waiting on men like Edwards and Whitefield to call upon Him again."
Want real, Holy Ghost, Heaven sent, Soul-saving revival in your church, your city, your state or in America again???...Humble yourselves, get on your knees, clean up your heart and ask God for it...And when He starts the fire, set another, and another, and another until it rages into an inferno that will purge and purify a people who CAN change our country!...He's the only hope for America...
